CrossFit Games 2021 have arrived and many CrossFit Games 2021 competitors are thrilled. Along with the usual CrossFit Games competitions like those for men, there will also be events for women. Women are competing

The 2021 Crossfit Games' women's competition started this morning with the swim race. Tia-Clair Toomey-Orr and Jonne Koski won in the first event. Koski was the overall winner after keeping her lead throughout the competition. Tall and Eramo O'Connell finished second and third, respectively. It was the first Games women's event and the women hoped to complete it.

The women’s competition is populated with high-level competitors. Nine athletes are represented in the field, including a young Australian powerhouse who won last year's competition. Kara Saunders from Australia, who placed second in Australia and 11th globally in 2020 are other contenders. Andrea Nisler was also a rising star. In 2018, she competed in team division and came in third in the United States. She finished fifteenth in 2020. Aside from these athletes, the Women’s competition will also include a newcomer, Sara Sigmundsdottir, an Icelandan competitor, who won first place at the World Crossfit Games earlier.

Pegboard contest

Pegboard at Crossfit Games 2020 was a first. It was added to Crossfit Games' summer Olympic program alongside double-unders & dumbbell overhead Squats. Toomey-Orr, who won 30 games events, holds the record of most wins in one Games event. Sager won Event 11 (for men) and was awarded his third Games win. There were several tie in the contest but Toomey Orr's dominance was too strong to stop him winning.

CrossFit Games is a training program that focuses on 10 general fitness skills. These include strength, flexibility, power and speed as well as cardiovascular endurance. Pegboard competition tests competitors' grip strength, coordination, and speed. The competitors compete by holding two wooden stakes between their fingers. After completing the Pegboard, the competition was intense and athletes felt a sense of accomplishment.


Cutting system

CrossFit Games will use a cutting system again for individual competitions. This is not as extreme as past Games cuts, but it is very different this year. It consists of 15 events so 30 athletes could be reduced after the seventh and eighth events. CrossFit's decision on how to adjust the points distributed after cuts remains a question. The scoring table used in the 2019 games was nearly identical to the one used in 2021, so it's likely that this will continue to be the case.

The CrossFit Games' largest ever field, consisting of 236 athletes this year, is the largest ever. Major cuts occur in the first six events. The field is reduced down to 75 athletes. The top thirty athletes then compete in a sprint team to determine the top 10. From there, the top twenty athletes compete in the six remaining events. Veteran Games participants criticized Castro's system, claiming that the cuts were too drastic.

Equipment from Reebok

Reebok announced new CrossFit Games footwear, clothing and other equipment. The Nano X1 are the new shoes. They are made to meet multiple fitness needs. Reebok calls the shoe "the shoe of health," but it is more like a traditional trainer shoe. DuPont’s Kevlar material is used to make the upper of this shoe, which promotes breathability as well as durability. The shoes are responsive thanks to the firm midsole and RopePro technology.

CrossFit and Reebok's partnership will end in 2020. The Games have been sponsored by Reebok for over a decade, and it's now clear that the company's involvement will be decreasing.
